News 14 | People protest ACLU’s freedom from religion Agenda in North Carolina

April 30, 2007

Yadkin County Commissioners dropped references to Christ or any other religion more than a month ago. This came after the American Civil Liberties Union objected to sectarian prayer at public meetings.

Proponents of non-sectarian prayer said they don’t have a problem with praying, but ask for it to be respectful to all the diverse beliefs in the county, but Baity said he wants prayer in the name of Jesus.

“If we do not stand up to our Judeo Christian values, we will ultimately lose them, as we have in the last 30 years and I think that the people are beginning to get a hold of that,” he said. “It’s time to stand up and be counted.”
